Project Description

DPW and Tree & Highway Facility on Main Street in Norwell, MA is a new building addition to the town’s existing facility.  The old facility did not provide enough office space for employees, nor enough garage space for equipment, leading to quicker breakdowns and expensive replacements.  The new 3,000 square-foot office space includes a full breakroom, conference room, locker room, and handicapped accessible bathrooms.  The 13,500 square-foot garage space is large enough to house all the town’s equipment for storage and maintenance.  The existing 6,000 square-foot garage was updated with new structural support for crane equipment as well as a mezzanine for additional storage.  The roofs all have a new, intricate ice melting system and the garage floors have a structural double mat reinforced slab on grade with proper pitches for drainage.

This job was projected to be completed in two phases over 16 months but Tower was able to compress the schedule down to 12 months; a difficult task when the DPW was in full operation 24/7 for the duration of the project.  To do this, Tower worked in partnership with the Town of Norwell Highway Department, who performed a portion of the site improvements.  This not only expedited the schedule but reduced the risks of downtime to their operations.
